Expert care and support for adults with Eczema

Eczema (also often called dermatitis) doesn’t just affect children — many adults live with flare-ups, dryness, and itching that can be uncomfortable and frustrating. There are different types and causes for adult eczema, which can appear for the first time at any age. At My Eczema Expert we understand how eczema can impact work, social life, relationships, and self-confidence. Our private consultations are tailored to your needs.

Happy woman

We’ll take time to understand your skin, your triggers, and your lifestyle so we can create a treatment plan that works for you.

With clear, evidence-based advice and support, we’ll help you manage flare-ups, care for your skin daily, and feel confident in keeping your eczema under control. Sometimes, creams and ointments aren’t enough to fully control eczema. In these cases, further investigations — such as allergy testing, patch testing, or second-line systemic treatments — may be needed to get symptoms under control. At My Eczema Expert, we can assess your situation and, if necessary, guide you to the right specialists or services for these advanced treatment options. Our goal is to make sure you get the care you need to feel more comfortable and in control.

Identifying and Accessing Appropriate Treatment can be Difficult

Challenging Symptoms

Eczema symptoms can change over time.

Topical Steroid Concerns

Concerns regarding topical steroid treatments based on social media information and potential side effects, such as skin thinning or steroid withdrawal syndrome.

Obtaining Flare Treatments

Flare treatment creams and ointments (usually topical steroids and calcineurin inhibitors) require a prescription from a health professional such as a doctor, nurse or pharmacist.

Varied Advice

There may be differing advice from doctors, family, friends or social media.

Costly Natural Treatments

Many natural eczema treatments can be costly and may not be fully effective when used alone.

Numerous Treatment Options

Numerous treatment options are available, making it difficult to select the most appropriate one.

Up to 1 in 10 adults live with eczema (also called dermatitis).

This common condition can cause persistent itching, redness, dryness, and soreness — and in some cases, the skin may crack, weep, or bleed. Eczema in adults can be long-lasting and may require ongoing treatment to keep symptoms under control.

Hear from parents we have worked with before

"I came in to see Nicola Cottom yesterday and I just wanted to share how pleased I was. Nicola was really lovely, and she gave me so much valuable information, also in writing which is really helpful. For the first time in 8 months, I felt understood and listened to in regards to my baby girl’s eczema. I feel I have come away with a clear plan, an understanding and I really feel optimistic. Thank you so much for the excellent service."

Mellissa

"I got a treatment plan for my daughter’s eczema which we had needed for a while. It was great to see a medical professional face to face and she was really knowledgeable and helpful. Thanks! | Nicola Cottom explained everything very clearly and took the time to explain to my daughter about her treatment and how if she helped with the cream, she would have skin like a Princess!! This has definitely helped with the twice daily applications. Thank you!"

Happy Patient

"The advice I received was great and I felt very happy with the service. I am extremely impressed, and Nicola was lovely, professional, very knowledgeable and extremely understanding. I felt listened to, and not spoken down to, which I have felt in other appointments regarding this issue."
